Molly Chiffer is an acclaimed actress at 13: Will eighth-grader follow in Amy Brenneman's footsteps?
by Nancy Thompson

EXCERPT: In addition to her supporting role in "Doubt", Molly [Chiffer] is the lead actor in "Mirror Mirror", a film produced by students at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

The film, which has been making the rounds of independent film festivals throughout the country, is described on its website as a "cautionary tale featuring a talented cast including the young star, up-and-coming Connecticut native Molly Chiffer".

"Molly and her parents were, and continue to be, very supportive of my film, and I had a wonderful time getting to know them on set," said Valerie Champagne, the film's director, writer, producer, and editor. "Molly is extremely dedicated and very talented for her age, so I expect that she has a long career ahead of her."

"Working with Molly was a real pleasure. For such a young actress, she has a considerable level of professionalism and maturity that she brought to set every day. The role of Tanya was very demanding, but Molly fully embraced and embodied the character, exploring Tanya's strength and vulnerability in a very moving performance."

What's next for this "up-and-coming" young actor? She'll be starting eighth grade this month and will be taking courses in theater arts and chorus in addition to standard academic subjects. Later in the school year, Molly will audition for the Hartford Academy of the Arts, a regional magnet school in Hartford.

Is this what she sees herself doing? "Yeah," she said. "This is it."
